Our Braised Cabbage is bursting with flavor and brimming with bone-building nutrients. Rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, folate, manganese, and inflammation-fighting antioxidants, this vibrant dish is both comforting and good for your body and bones.
And don’t let the preparation intimidate you. While “braising” may sound like an advanced or fancy cooking method, it’s surprisingly simple and ensures your cabbage is moist and fork-tender.

Braised Cabbage | Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free | BoneCoach™ Recipes
TOTAL TIME: 90 minutes
1 small red or green cabbage
1 onion (yellow/red), thick-sliced
1/3 cup (80ml) bone broth or vegetable broth
1/4 cup (62ml) fress-pressed extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp (2ml) sea salt
pinch freshly cracked black pepper (omit for AIP)
1) Heat oven to 325F and grease a 9×13″ casserole dish with one tablespoon of olive oil.
2) Trim the cabbage stem off, and divide the cabbage into wedges, keeping the core attached. Carefully place the wedges into the prepared dish. Sprinkle the onion on top.
3) Pour the broth into the dish along with the remaining olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil or a casserole lid. Bake for 75 minutes and enjoy!
