Cooking steak indoors can be a flavorful and convenient option, especially when outdoor grilling isn’t feasible.

Here at BoneCoach™, we recommend using avocado oil for best results – it is the bone-healthy option, too!

How To Cook A Steak Indoors | Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free | BoneCoach™ Recipes

SERVES: 2

COOKING TIME: 40 minutes

Ingredients

10oz (283g) lean steak (choose from NY strip, eye of round, top sirloin, tri-tip, coulotte, tenderloin)

1/4 tsp (1ml) sea salt

freshly cracked pepper to taste, optional

1 tsp (5ml) avocado oil

Directions

1) Let the steak rest on the kitchen counter for 20-30 minutes before cooking.

2) Preheat oven to 400F. Pat dry the steak with paper towel and season either side with salt and pepper if desired.

3) Preheat a cast iron skillet or dutch oven over medium-high heat. To test if it’s hot enough, sprinkle a little water on it. If it sizzles, it’s ready. Add oil and using tongs, place the steak in the pan. Sear for 2 minutes. DO NOT move the steak. Flip, and sear for another 2 minutes.

4) Transfer the skillet or pot directly into the preheated oven. Let steaks bake for 5-10 minutes, depending on thickness and how you like them done (medium-rare, rare, etc).

5) Once the steak is done, remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing and enjoying to preserve all the yummy juice! Pairs nicely with BoneCoach Lacinato Kale Salad or Green Bean Salad.
