How we got started
After years of scouring through research and countless hours consulting with experts, Kevin had a lightbulb moment. He realized just how challenging it can be for the average person, mostly the average woman, who is diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis to figure out what she needs to do to address bone loss, build bone strength, and prevent fracture.
He saw a gap - an underserved population of people diagnosed with osteoporosis that desperately need (and deserve) answers and guidance for living with and working to improve the condition. And that’s when Kevin started BoneCoach™ and BoneCoach.com.
What began as a humble team of one (Kevin as the Bone Coach) has now grown to a team of over a dozen highly credentialed, highly compassionate team members determined to help women all over the world build stronger bones and lead active, healthy lives.
About Our Founder
At just 31 years old, osteoporosis turned my world upside down. I had a young daughter, a son on the way, and my health was spiraling out of control.
My body had withered down to its lowest weight in my entire adult life (I weighed 30lbs less than my normal healthy weight), and my muscles were wasting away. I had a slew of digestive issues contributing to maldigestion and nutrient malabsorption. My body wasn’t able to properly break down and absorb the food I was eating.
My body was failing me
Most days my energy was non-existent. Nights were spent tossing and turning only to wake up exhausted with a checklist of more health issues to solve. My body was failing me… big time! And being told I had osteoporosis put the nail in my coffin.
I remember the day the doctor sat down with me and confirmed I had osteoporosis. Her exact words were, “This is going to be a huge issue for you.” Bone drugs and fractures were my future.
And I walked out of that office afraid.
My daughter needed her daddy
The people who know me well know I’m not typically an emotional person, but my diagnosis struck fear into my heart. My view of the world had changed entirely. Everything was a hazard. The sidewalks, the curbs, even my own vehicle…I actually carefully sat down in the driver’s seat for the first time in my LIFE, because I was intentionally thinking about trying not to fracture the vertebrae in my spine.
When I got home that night, I was laying on the couch across from my wife while our daughter was upstairs sleeping. And I looked up and saw my favorite picture of her on the wall. She was a little over one year old, wearing this cute polka dot dress, standing in front of a white picket fence, blonde hair, blue eyes, innocent and sweet as could be…
And I just broke down crying…it was the kind of cry that just empties the sum of life’s burdens. After I was done, I looked over at my wife and said, “I just want to dance with my daughter on her wedding day.”
I needed a solution
She needed her daddy, and I questioned whether I’d even be alive to be there for her.
For those first couple of days and weeks after being told I had osteoporosis, I just kept thinking... Why is this happening to me? This doesn’t make sense. How is this possible? Is this my fault? What will my life be like moving forward? How will my life change? Am I the only person my age going through this?
I was angry, upset, overwhelmed, and I was scared. I had no idea where to start, and I just wanted to know that everything was going to be okay.
After a great deal of reading and research, trial and error, and getting the RIGHT plan in place...my mindset started to shift. Those feelings and emotions of fear and overwhelm evolved into determination.
I found what I was looking for and want to share it with the world
My mindset became:
I’m going to be there for my family and my kids.
I’m going to take the information I’ve learned and start making progress.
I’m going to improve my body and my bones.
Fast forward to today…Not only have I transformed my health and made continued progress in my own journey, I’ve now dedicated my life to helping people with osteoporosis rise above the sadness, and gain clarity and confidence that improving IS possible.
And out of my diagnosis, my struggle, and my journey to find answers, BoneCoach™ was born.
My team and I have now gone on to help people in over 1500+ cities around the world take back their futures that were put into question and get confident in their plan for long, strong, active lives.
